Instructions

  • Step: 1 Using side cutters, cut 17-inches of 2mm dark brown leather, 19-inches of figure 8 chain, (2) 25-inch pieces of tiger tail string and 10-inches of copper ball chain.
  • Step: 2 Take the E6000 glue, put a dab inside the end caps that come with the 2mm leather cord. Take one end of the leather cord and attach it to the end cap. Attach one jump-ring to the cord end. Repeat on the opposite side of the leather cord. Let it sit to dry.
  • Step: 3 Take two container bowls or cups.
  • Step: 4 A. Make a metallic seed bead mix for the first container: pour in seed beads with metallic colors: bronze, brown, copper and gold and mix the beads together.
  • Step: 5 B. Make the spacer ring mix for the second container: pour in small mixed rings, multi ring beads, small colored bead spacers and small bead rings mix the beads together.
  • Step: 6 Take the first 25-inches of tiger tail. Bead with the assortment of metallic copper, brown and gold seeds, repeat this sequence until you have threaded 19-inches of beads onto the tiger tail. Slide a crimping bead onto the tiger tail and then string on a jump-ring. Loop the tiger tail back through the jump-ring and the crimping bead. Using either a Mighty Crimper or chain nose pliers, flatten the crimping bead and pull on the wire loop to ensure that it is secured firmly. Repeat with the opposite end using a separate jump-ring and put aside.
  • Step: 7 Take the second 25-inches of tiger tail. String 2-inches of the metallic seed bead mix followed by ½- inch of the spacer ring mix repeat this sequence until you have threaded 19-inches of beads onto the tiger tail. Slide a crimping bead onto the tiger tail and then string on a jump-ring. Loop the tiger tail back through the jump-ring and the crimping bead. Using either a Mighty crimper or chain nose pliers, flatten the crimping bead and pull on the wire loop to ensure that it is secured firmly. Repeat with the opposite end using a separate jump-ring and put aside.
  • Step: 8 Prepare the charms:
  • Step: 9 (A) Triangle #1: Take (1) antique triangle and using chain nose pliers open a jump-ring and attach the charm to (1) red-enamel dangle close the jump-ring securely using your pliers.
  • Step: 10 (B) Triangle #2: Take (1) antique triangle and attach it to (1) silver antique dangle with a jump-ring.
  • Step: 11 (C) Hammered Spacer #1: Take (1) “5 %” Typewriter Key and attach it to (1) hammered ring spacer with a jump-ring. Take (1) green enamel key and attach it to the same hammered ring spacer using a separate jump-ring.
  • Step: 12 (D) Hammered Spacer #2: Take (1) fare token and attach it to (1) hammered ring spacer with a jump-ring. Take (1) green enamel “?” tag and attach it to the same hammered ring spacer using a separate jump-ring.
  • Step: 13 (E) Pencil Pendant: Take (1) blue pencil and attach it to (1) black & white domino piece with a jump-ring. Take (1) enamel green lock and attach to the same black & white domino piece using a separate jump-ring. Take (1) jump-ring and attach it to the opposite side of the domino piece. Tie a bright pink ribbon around the top part of the domino piece.
  • Step: 14 Take the 2mm leather cord with cord ends and string the charms in this order. (1) Antique Gold Hammered Ring, Triangle #2, Hammered Ring #2, (1) Antique Bottle, (1) Tassel, Pencil Pendant, (1) Tassel, (1) Antique Bottle, Hammered Ring #1, Triangle #1 and (1) Antique Gold Hammered Ring. Let the charms sit in the middle of the leather cord. with the Pencil components as your centerpiece.
  • Step: 15 Wrap the 8-inches of copper ball chain around the charms and space the charms out as you wrap the chain. Move the wrapped charms with ball chain so that it sits in the middle of the leather cord. Secure both ends of the copper ball chain by threading metal fibers through the last links on the chain and using round nose pliers and your fingers, twist the fibers securely around both the chain and leather cord.
  • Step: 16 Take the Figure 8 Chain and attach one end of the chain to the end cap on the leather cord using a jump-ring. Wrap the chain around the necklace and attach the loose end of the chain to the opposite end cap using a jump-ring. Secure jump-rings with your chain nose pliers.
  • Step: 17 Take the bead and spacer tiger tail cord and attach one end to the end cap on the leather cord using a jump-ring. Wrap the string around the necklace and attach the other end of the string to the opposite end cap using a jump-ring. Secure jump-rings with your chain nose pliers.
  • Step: 18 Take the seed bead tiger tail cord and attach one end to the end cap on the leather cord using a jump-ring. Wrap the string around the necklace and attach the other end of the string to the opposite end cap using a jump-ring. Secure jump-rings with your chain nose pliers.
  • Step: 19 Using your chain nose pliers attach a clasp to the end caps on the leather cord
Tips
  • Throughout the process you will be asked to attach elements together using jump-rings. In all cases have a pair of chain nose pliers, and a second pair of pliers ready. Open the jump-ring with the pliers by holding each side of the ring with a pair of pliers and turning your wrists slightly in opposite directions. Slide your elements onto the jump-ring and then secure the jump-ring by bringing the two open ends back together. Make sure to close the jump-rings tightly when you close them.
