Susan Lenart Kazmer, a well known Metalsmith and Jeweler is bringing more than 20 years of work as a successful mixed-media artist to Michaels stores this Spring with the debut of her innovative line of crafting products that crosses many artistic mediums.
For Susan, the new Industrial Chic™ Mixed Media line is a return to her roots. For more than 20 years, Susan has been combining her metalsmithing background with her passion for found objects to create work that runs the gamut from jewelry to art journaling, three-dimensional sculpture to home decor. Now that mixed-media is trending in the Crafts industry, customers are enthusiastically embracing the Industrial Chic™ look to inspire their own creative interests.
Elements of the Industrial Chic ™ line can easily be used by scrap bookers, fiber artists, art journalers, card makers, beaders and home decorators to add dimension, texture and color to their crafting projects, making it a true mixed-media crossover line. In addition, Horizon Group USA is publishing an instructional book of 20 projects showing how simple it is to incorporate Industrial Chic™ into multiple mediums.
Susan Lenart Kazmer is an explorer and inventor. During her studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, she pioneered the integration of fibers and found objects with traditional metalsmithing and jewelry techniques. As a contemporary builder of talisman, Susan repurposes objects of modern-day culture and reinterprets these artifacts into work that is layered with spiritual and historical significance. Her work has been recognized by the Smithsonian Institute of Art, the Huntington Museum of Art, the Ohio Craft Museum and the American Craft Council.
