Have you ever had a project that just didn’t turn out like you planned? You have permission to pull that piece apart and make something new! The silverware in this collage started out somewhere else.

The first time you rip something apart and create something fresh and new is a grand feeling.

What are you waiting for?

We dare you!

If you wind up with extra pieces, gather with a couple of like-minded friends and collage away the day!

Do you suppose this family was at a carnival in France?

The central image in this collage is, of course, a faux tintype, but in 1853 in France when Adolphe-Alexandre Martin first described the “tintype” aka “ferrotype” it was all the rage.

They images were not actually captured on tin, but iron.

That’s a faux druzy dangling from the art journal. Pretty isn’t it?

When you are creating an art journal for yourself what are some of your favorite themes? How many pages do you allow for new creative thoughts when they strike you later?

It’s an Art Journal, but you can write in it too!

Here’s a few prompts to get you started:

I wish…

I wish I had a million… Then I would…

I wish I had one… because…

I wish I could be like…. This person is special because….

I wish there were a law that said….. This would be a good law because….

I wish I could forget the time I ….. because….

I wish trees could….. because….

I wish I could see…… because…..

I wish I could learn….. because…..

I wish I didn’t have to eat…… I don’t like this food because…..

I wish everyone would learn to ….. Then everyone would…..

I wish I never……

I wish I had one more chance to….. Then I would…..

I wish there was an electric……

I wish I had enough money to……

I wish everyone loved……

I wish all children would……

I wish everyone had…..

I wish I could touch……

I wish animals could…… If they could, then…..

I wish I looked like…. because……

I wish there were no more…..

I wish I didn’t have to…..

I wish I could go to…..

I wish there really was….. If there really was, then…..

I wish I could hear……

I wish I could give……

If all my wishes came true, I would……

Ever find a piece that looks interesting you just don’t know what to do with it and then you make something and viola! They match and you were not even trying.

This pendant (MKM28204-123) in Susan Lenart Kazmer’s Industrial Chic line was one of those items. There is a scroll inside, so it is one of SLK’s “prayer boxes”. It feels Japanese Geisha to me.

The Industrial Chic chain with the red bow seemed like the perfect match sans bow(MKP28470-02). I’ll save the bow for another project.

Add jump rings and a loop fastener with my flatnose pliers and I am good to go in red.

To create the bezel:

I ran the scrapbook paper you can sand paper off a design through the Artisan –Xplorer with Media Mixage (created for Spellbinders by Susan Lenart Kazmer) embossing plate.

The bezel and corresponding triangular die are Media Mixage. I measured for the cirlce inside by placing the triangle paper on top and pressing down with my thumbs then fussy cut so it would fit around the outside of the raised circle in the bezel. Then I used a nail file (it was handy) and sanded the embossed design just a bit.

I mixed ICE Resin® and poured it into 3 containers. The clear one, I painted on the paper triangle. When I added the resin it looked like the Martian spore from the War of the Worlds movie with Tom Cruise. Now I am a science fiction fan, but, ICK! Martian spores were not at all what I had in mind.

I opened my pantry to see what spices I could use for contrast. I added paprika to one container and ground basil to the other then mixed them again. I have to admit I added way more basil that I planned, but because I did, the bail held it’s shape and kept the parika’d resin in place. I could have domed the resin, but I chose leave well enough alone.

I glued the triangle on the bezel.

Moral (for me): If I don’t fret ‘n fuss, all is well.

I was inspired by the colors in Susan Lenart Kazmer’s Industrial Chic Chain with Fibers and Glass Beads.

I knew that I wanted something as bright and vibrant as the ribbon but also something that wouldn’t take away from the chain.

Enter my sweet little bird that is nestled nicely in a hobnail heart bezel and adorned by three simple little rhinestones.

I created this necklace using Heart Hobnail Bezel, Industrial Chic Fiber & Glass Bead Chain and ICE Resin®.

This necklace was inspired by several elements from the Art Mechanique line.

By repurposing parts you can create a simple, elegant, fun necklace quickly and easily.

I disassembled the feather earrings and used one as the focal point for this necklace.

I added a bit of stamping on the feather with StazOn ink. (Carol, the social media gal here– OMG it just makes the necklace totally cool. I would never have thought of that. I LOVE it!)

I took a bead from the beaded chain and added it as a dangle to the end of the chain.

I attached a piece of lace to each end of the beaded chain to create a tie closure.

There are so many uses for the preassembled elements in Susan Lenart Kazmer’s Art Mechanique line of products, and so many ways you can add your own personal touches and uses for them.

Happy jewelry making,
