Door hardware evolves to a higher purpose in Sandy Martin’s studio
Labels. We read ignore them on the back of Ben and Jerry's, we read them when it's the first time we are using a product that is new to us, and in celebration of our individualism, dislike having a label applied.
I am so much more that a blogger. You are so much more than a reader.
One of the cool things about making mixed media jewelry is that you have freedom to change what the label on the package says is “door hardware” into this:
Sandy Martin says: “I created this piece with Industrial Chic “door hardware”. It just screamed cuff bracelet to me. The cuff fits great, now you just need to find the missing key!!”
Steps:
1. Anneal the piece to help it bend.
2. Shape it around a bracelet mandrel.
3. Place a domed, enameled piece of copper in the peep hole (the other side has a small surprise.)
4. Adhere text – this adds color and additional texture. (Sandy's 1726 text is some she picked up in France.)
Just what will the missing key reveal? Only your imagination can tell!
And while you are imagining, you can also surf to Sandy's Sweet Pea blog

Very cool cuff – love it!

G’day Sandy
